PULiiMA 2025 Expressions of Interest
PULiiMA Indigenous Languages and Technology Conference
Larrakia Country, Darwin
26 – 29 August 2025
PULiiMA Indigenous Language and Technology Conference is a biennial event aimed at bringing people together from all over Australia and internationally to explore pioneering project ideas and exciting products and equipment that can be used in Community based Indigenous Languages projects. The conference allows people to network with an inspirational group of people who all share a common ambition of conserving and celebrating the Languages of your Country.
The Aboriginal Languages Trust (ALT) is excited to be able to support 30 Aboriginal Language practitioners from NSW to attend PULiiMA. An Expression of Interest (EOI) process will be used to identify 30 individuals to attend PULiiMA. ALT Sponsorship to attend PULiiMA will cover conference ticket, flights, accommodation and meal costs for the duration of the conference.
EOIs will be open from Monday 14 April – 5pm Sunday 4 May 2025.
The EOI form will ask for information about your recent involvement with Language/s and how you will share and apply what you learn at PULiiMA. Please provide as much information as possible so that the assessment panel can accurately assess your EOI.
If you have any questions about the Expression of Interest process, please contact Cindy Hamilton on 0484 635 276 or cindy.hamilton@alt.nsw.gov.au.
FAQs
How do I submit an Expression of Interest?
Complete the EOI form here by 5pm Sunday 4 May 2025.
Alternatively, if you are not comfortable filling out the online form, you can call 0484 635 276 and we will complete the form with you over the phone.
Remember to provide as much information as possible so that the assessment panel can accurately assess your EOI.
Can I apply together with other people from my organisation?
No, this opportunity is open to individuals, and each place will be awarded to a specific person. Each interested person should submit their own EOI.
How are EOIs assessed?
An assessment panel will review each EOI and award a score based on two key criteria:
- Recent involvement in Language sharing/activities, for example teaching Language in schools or Community, being part of a Language network group (formal or informal), creating Language resources or carrying out Language research.
- Can outline how they will share and apply what they learn from PULiiMA in their own Language practice, within their organisation and/or at a Community level.
The highest scoring EOI for each Language group will be offered a place.
When will I find out if I am successful?
ALT will contact all applicants by 30 May 2025. Once your attendance is confirmed, the Trust will organise your travel and accommodation.
If you are not successful you will be placed on a waitlist for any places that become available.
Do I have to attend all four days of PULiiMA?
Yes, sponsorship is provided on the basis that you are available and can commit to attending all four days of the PULiiMA conference from 26-29 August, as well as two additional travel days on the 25th and 30th August.
If I am successful, but I can no longer attend, can I give my ticket to someone else?
No, if you can no longer attend the Trust will assign your place to another person who has applied and met the assessment criteria.
