How Communities Are Celebrating Languages Week

  • Mudyala Aboriginal Corporation

    Yaygirr

    The Mudyala Aboriginal Corporation will host the "Angwirri Ngarraanga Yaggirr (Speak Hear Yaygirr)" event which involves schools attending a mutual location where our Elders and Community will engage students in Yaygirr language activities.

  • Tweed Byron Local. Aboriginal Land Council

    Bundujulung

    The Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council (TBLALC) will host the Booningbah Community Cultural Walk for the community to explore the unique land and waters of Booningbah under the guidance of local Aboriginal speakers.

  • Nēwara Aboriginal Corporation

    Anaiwan

    The Nēwara Aboriginal Corporation will host a Kyunda Uyitika (Let's Speak on Country) camp to enhance participants' knowledge of the Anaiwan Language through traditional and contemporary stories, song and dance.

  • Ginhar Indigenous Corporation

    A range of Aboriginal languages across NSW including Wiradjuri

    The Ginhar Indigenous Corporation will present an engaging interactive session on the Aboriginal Language Introduction to Cultural and Linguistic Diverse Peoples in the Dubbo Community.

  • Gummyaney Aboriginal Corporation

    Bundjalung, Gummbayngirr & Yaegl

    The Gummyaney Aboriginal Corporation will celebrate with a Gummaney Aboriginal Preschool Languages Week celebration which involve a Welcome to Country by a Bundjalung Language provider followed by singing and dancing.

  • Djiyagan Dhanbaan

    Gathang and the wider public

    Djiyagan Dhanbaan will be celebrating with various activities including painting Language and art on local infrastructures, promoting local digital Language resources on social media and hosting Lunch & Learn Language events.

  • Coota Girls Aboriginal Corporation

    Ngiyampaa, Gamilaraay, Djungan, Wanggumara, Bundjalung, Dhungutti, Wiradjuri, Gumbaynggirr, Biripi, Barkindji, Wailwan, Wemba Wemba

    The Coota Girls Aboriginal Corporation will launch First Language resources virtually via a virtual Celebration and Morning Tea.

  • Connective Indigenous Corporation

    Wiradjuri and Wongaibon Language Nations

    The Connective Indigenous Corporation will host an Aboriginal Language and digital arts exhibition at the Wungunja Culture Centre in Trangie.

  • Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation

    Dunghutti for Kempsey, Biripi for Taree and Kamilaroi/ Gamilaraay for Tamworth

    Burrun Dalai will be holding a two-day cultural Language program for Aboriginal children aged between 8-17 years old, coordinated by Cultural Workers and Local Elders.

  • Bundjalung Tribal Society LTD

    Yugambeh – Bundjalung, also known as Bandjalangic

    The Bundjalung Tribal Society LTD will host two workshops for adolescent Aboriginals who are currently disadvantaged or isolated to promote identity, culture and inclusion. Elders will be involved and will focus on connecting to culture through story, art and Language.

  • Narrandera Local Aboriginal Land Council

    Wiradjuri and other languages through song

    The Narrandera Local Aboriginal Land Council will engage Dinawan's Connection group to celebrate through showcasing songs, cultural dances and sharing knowledge.

  • Pejar Local Aboriginal Land Council

    Wiradjuri

    The Pejar Local Aboriginal Land Council will host the Ngurambang (Home) Language repatrication workshop which will target a range of age groups to promote the Wiradjuri Language.

  • Djinama Yilaga Inc.

    Dhurga

    The Djinama Yilaga Incc. will host the Gambarbar Yangga festival whicn will include singing in Language classes, songwriting and musical performances in the Dhurga Language.

  • Bularri Muurlay Nyanggan Aboriginal Corporation

    Gumbaynggirr / Bundjalung

    The Bularri Muurlay Nyanggan Aboriginal Corporation will host the Girrwaawa Ngaawalu (Language bringing mob together) which include a range of events that involve dance, Language, food, activities and workshops to increase the awareness of the Gumbaynggirr/ Bundjalung Language.

  • Gujaga Foundation Limited

    Dharawal

    The Gujaga Foundation Limited will celebrate with a Dharawal Language Week activity book which will be distributed at schools and centres currently engaged with the Dharawal Language program.

  • Pambilang Cultural Initiatives

    Gathang Dunghutti

    The Pambilang Cultural Initiatives group will deliver a one-day Community event to celebrate the history and future of Aboriginal Languages through dance, song, story and art.
