Languages Grants

Aboriginal Languages revitalisation and reclamation is happening on the ground in Communities across NSW. The Aboriginal Languages Trust manages funding for the coordination of, and investment in, Aboriginal Language activities at a local, regional and State level.

Since being established in March 2020, the Aboriginal Languages Trust has invested in a range of Aboriginal Community activities in NSW to reawaken, grow and nurture Aboriginal Languages. A complete list of successful Aboriginal Languages Community Investment Program recipients are available here:

    Aboriginal Languages Educational Scholarship Program

    Applications close: Sunday, 5 January 2025

    Grants from: Tier 1: $1,000 - $9,999, Tier 2: $10,000 - $24,999, Tier 3: $25,000 - $50,000

    The ALT Educational Scholarship Program is funded by the Aboriginal Languages Trust to grow the number of Aboriginal Languages speakers, educators and teachers across NSW.

    NSW Aboriginal Languages Week Grants Program

    Applications close: Monday, 16 September 2024

    Grants from: $1,000 to $5,000

    The NSW Aboriginal Languages Week Grants Program provides open and non-competitive one-off grants from $1,000 to $5,000 for the hosting of activities and events delivered between 20 October and 27 October 2024 to celebrate Aboriginal Languages across NSW.

    Aboriginal Languages Trust Small Grants Program

    Grants from: $1,000 to $15,000

    The Aboriginal Languages Trust Small Grants Program provides open and non-competitive grants between $1,000 to $15,000 to support Critical Language activities by NSW Aboriginal not for profit Community organisations, groups, and Aboriginal sole traders.

    Aboriginal Languages Partnership Funding Program

    Applications close: Wednesday, 5 June 2024

    Grants from: $60,000 to $500,000

    The Aboriginal Languages Partnership Funding Program provides grants between $60,000 to $500,000 to Aboriginal Community organisations and groups to deliver targeted Languages projects. This program focuses on longer-term strategic partnerships which build on existing successful Languages initiatives.

    Grants from: $1,000 to $25,000

    The Aboriginal Languages Revival Program provides open and competitive one-off grants between $1,000 to $25,000 to support Aboriginal Community organisations and groups to commence or build on smaller scale Languages revival projects.
